I just saw two at a LFGS that had the rear sight dovetails milled off. The consignor did a great job of milling off the dovetails and putting on a scope, but no thanks. Not worth much to me.

I totally agree that the .30 Carbine round is under-estimated and under-appreciated --- even by those who should be in the know. To wit: The author of an article on the "M1 carbine" in the Military...
I like it, and wouldn't mind having it. Probably the main thing to know now would be the condition of the bore and muzzle. If those are in nice condition, the carbine would be worth $750 to $850...
Where I got that July 1943 start date for the 2 Million block of serial numbers was from the M1 carbine "born on dates" master list that I've printed off from one or more of the M1 Carbine Internet...
Seems to me that most of the brazed Underwood trigger housings would have been in the 2 Million serial number block. Online sources indicate Underwood made only about 65,000 carbines in the 4...
Thanks. I guess that's around serial number 300,000 that the stocks went from I cut to oval cut, huh?
At about what serial number did Inland stocks go from I cut to oval cut? Also, at about what serial number did they go from high wood to low wood? Anybody have a source to answer these two...
How prevalent is faking of magazine pouches? It hadn't occurred to me that there could be much of that going on because of the need to make the manufacturing company logo appear correct etc.
Are...
Are you indicating that my Inland was assembled about 11-44? If so, then wouldn't the Inland barrel be made about 2 or 3 months earlier than that in all likelihood?

My 6.42M Inland came with a 2-44 Underwood Barrel when I purchased it. I understand that the Underwood barrel wouldn't have been used in the carbine's original 1944 or 1945 assembly. So in order to...
Thanks for the info, Bruce.
I've often wondered when the late Inland carbines were manufactured with the slide, hammer, trigger, etc. that were compatible with military field conversion to full auto by the addition of M2 parts?...
I have several 1942-44 magazine pouches designed to carry 15-round M1 carbine magazines. These vintage pouches seem to have brass hardware which is tarnished and bluish in places, but not affecting...
Hello, I'm kind of new here, but have looked in on this forum from time to time. My interest in military surplus rifles, etc stems back to the end of the Vietnam conflict. I was reassigned to...
