Because those are the early war/pre war blucher pattern boots, not jump boots. They are also wearing artic M41's, infantry web gear, hawley helmet liners, etc......all typical 7th ID stuff from...
The 5th Ranger Btn, issued large numbers of M7 launchers with the GP bags prior to the D-day landings. I guy in my reenacting unit is in possesion of a photo of members of A co. 5th RIB, loading into...
That picture is not in the ETO, or of paratroopers. It is of the 7th Infantry divison on Kiska in the Aluetiens.
I have talked and interveiwed dozens of WW2 and Korean War vets while doing research for my reenacting unit. Almost with out exception they all called Garands....."M1's" and M1/M2 carbines...
I don't think I have ever used anything but USGI clips, never had a problem with any of them. Some have probably been reloaded and used 100's of times. With both live ammo, and blanks at...
dwpmusic....My favorite ammo....some people won't like this, but it's just plain old WW2 M2 ball. I have tons of it loose, so I still shoot it. Yes it's corrosive, but I clean well after shooting and...
Personaly I don't love it, nor do I hate it, it's just not my favorite stuff. It's available and it's out there and non-corrosive, so clean up is not as intense. So I use it. No reliabilty issues,...
Sorry your father is no longer with you.
The name on the receiver is just that...........the name on the receiver. There is not one better than the other. If all you want is a decent shooting carbine, any late featured arsenal rebuild ...
I am not a gunsmith so don't take what I say to the bank, but like the above poster said, get a field gauge. What I do when swapping bolts is put the "new" bolt in the rifle, chamber a dummy round....
Doesn't sound like anything weird to me. Sounds like a typical M1 with some mixed parts and a replacement stock. If it's in nice shape, great, buy it, shoot it, enjoy it. You haven't stumbled on...
99.999% of USGI stocks will be a drop in fit. For a shooter your best bet at finding a nice stock for a decent price would be a late mfg. USGI M2 stock, there are tons of them around.
Just a friendly F.Y.I. on the barrel dates, that is the month the barrel was made, not when it was installed on the rifle. If the barrel on your rifle reads SA 9-51 it was made at Sprinfield Armory...
The belt was made for those demolition pouches, every thing looks ligit to me. The belts used to be very commen, much more so than the demo. pouches. I used to be able to find 10 belts for every one...
It's good to get the word out about this guy to newbies in the hobby. I had it out with him 10 years ago, and to get his "revenge" he proceeded to post using my name on other forums talking all kinds...
Because it's buggin me that it's not zeroed in. A few rounds to zero, clean, than back in the safe for another 15 years probably. If and when ever I want a carbine for shooting, a USGI mix master...
I got a nice set of brass punch's from Midway USA.
I have been thinking about getting one of these myself, I see they come with a flat MSH, I like the looks of that, but I see it has no lanyard loop. Where could I find a flat GI MSH with the loop,...
Thanks, I thought that was the case. The front sight looks to have already previously been filed down some (at least it's not as tall as any new ones I have seen), I wouldn't mind having to file it...
Many many years ago I found a legit USGI Inland flp sight and installed it on my Inland carbine that still had a lot of early parts like narrow band, and push safety etc... Now I realize I have never...
Hello all, new member. I have been "into" US milsurps since the late 90's, never been a serious collector, just an "accumulator" currantly have 2 M1 Garands, both WW2 SA's, 2 M1 Carbines, a WRA and...
