Scabbard is marked "US M8A1" and below that "PWH".

I'm registered with the CMP at Anniston Depot in Alabama. Their website lists various surplus items for sale so I ordered this M7 bayonet. Came in a fairly moldy old package, with the M8A1 scabbard...

With such a bewildering variety of variations out there, presumably the fakes are getting harder to tell from the genuine ones?

It appears to be most similar to the Belgian example (synthetic/nylon variant).

The frog shown is sold on various websites (including EBay) as a "Lee Enfield" or "No 4/9 bayonet frog". Is this indeed of UK origin?

I noticed that some frogs have the small retaining strap (for want of a better term) and some don't. Was this item unnecessary to retain the bayonet in the frog?

Repro frogs are sold widely on the Net, on sites such as the one below. With the understanding that these are knockoffs, how accurate are they in detail?:

Picked up this case of ammo at a gun show today. It's (I believe) 1960 manufacture and packed in wedge-shaped internal packs.

Most of the 7.62x54R I've seen has been loose packed in 20 round paper...

How common were these items in actual use? I've never...

On many of the No 9 bayonets I noticed that the blade is left "in the white" while the remainder is blackened. What was the reason behind this?

Can anyone say for sure what this pouch was used for? It came with a Mosin-Nagant M91/30 (along with some other accessories), and has been variously described as an old SKS ammo pouch or a Russian...

Overall, what was the general impression of these? Were they as well made as their UK counterparts?
