Yes you can see the mark on the shroud. Remove the safety altogether it has no use on a target rifle Its either loaded and firing or the bolt is open.

Its correct as plastic. The Redfield Olympic inserts will not fit the International as the I is bigger diameter and a better sight.

I would suggest prior to 1974. Serial numbers are really of no help here because they were numbered in numerical order but used at random. The published serial lists are years off at this point....

The easiest way, as mentioned, is to look at the serial number. The number will be followed by either the letter "B" or "C" indicating which.

The Davis/Litschert scope is a good scope. It was a lower cost scope built similar to the Lyman or Unertl. It will serve you well.
