The Milsurps on-line store is an extension of the Military Surplus Collectors Forums, which contain detailed reference research material and member informational exchange forums, covering various genres of old milsurp (military surplus) collectibles. It is NOT a commercial venture, as the items for sale within the Milsurps on-line store are generally from the personal and private collection of the owners of the web site. Over the next while, the owners will be reducing the size of their personal collection, most of which consists of premium high quality milsurp collectibles, so it may worth your while to check back frequently to see what new pieces from their collection have been listed for sale. Also, from time to time, there may be items listed for sale that belong to registered members of the site, or other third parties. If you wish to sell or buy items yourself privately through the web site's more casual WTS/WTB Forums, or Quartermaster Stores, then please read the Guns, Parts and Accessories Quick Shopper help and instructions post first .
Note: The Milsurps on-line store is still undergoing development, so there's currently not a lot of inventory listed for sale. As we complete site testing and now that as of April 5th, 2012 the Canadian long gun registry is officially canceled under Bill C-19, you will see a substantial increase in the number and quality of items being offered for sale. So, it will be worth your while to check back regularly, as well as register now if you haven't already, to be able to use the store for future purchases.
* Removal of the requirement to register non-restricted firearms
* Destruction of the existing non-restricted firearms registration records
* Allowing the transferor of a non-restricted firearm to obtain confirmation of a transferee’s firearms acquisition licence prior to the transfer being finalized.
Until further notice, due to a Court Order issued by the Quebec Superior Court, residents of Quebec are still required to register non-restricted firearms with the RCMP Canadian Firearms Program.
It is important to note that the new law does not change the requirement for all individuals to hold a licence in order to possess a firearm.
The licensing, safety training and safe storage requirements for anyone who uses or owns a firearm continue to be in force. The legislation also does not impact registration requirements for restricted or prohibited firearms.
2. Why can't I have ammunition shipped to me?
We can not ship ammunition outside of Canada. In addition, neither Canada Post nor most major courier companies will handle shipments of ammunition within Canada. For those reasons, we have a general policy and statement on individual sales listings that do not ship ammunition and buyers need to arrange for pick-up themselves, or by a third party. We understand that the CanPar will ship ammunition, so if you have an account with them, or can arrange for them to pick up from us, that might be a possibility, but you need to contact us prior to ordering ammunition for further discussion.
3. How do I pay by regular bank cheque?
When you buy an item and check out, you'll be given the option to pay by cheque and instructions will be given as to how to do that and where to send it. Note: No shipments will be made until payments for any transaction using a regular bank cheque have been received and cleared the sender's originating bank, which can take up to several weeks depending upon the individual financial institution used. For that reason, payment using Bank Certified Cheque is a much better choice to prevent shipping delays.
4. Why do I have to register separately to use the store?
You do not need to register to view any of the items available for sale in the store. However, if you wish to add an item to your cart and purchase it, you will be required to complete an on-line registration form that includes your proper name, address and telephone number. Once you are registered, it makes it quick and easy to add items to your cart for subsequent purchase and check-out ensuring they are reserved for you, perhaps before someone else sees a popular new populr item and adds it to their cart first. Even if you are registered on the Milsurps Forums, you still need to separately register here in the Milsurps Store, simply due to the extra personal information required to complete sales transactions, which is not required to register and use the Milsurps public forums. Note: You may also be required during the sale process to send us your Canadian PAL (Possession and Acquisition Licence)with its expiry date, which is required in Canada to possess and acquire firearms, as well as ammunition.
5. Why are some items shown as "Research Only! - Item NOT for sale"?
Besides operating this on-line store which is NOT a commercial venture, the owners of the site also provide the Military Surplus Collectors Forums and associated Knowledge Library for the benefit of the broader collector community. Many of the items in the library are also displayed here, with links pointing back to the official library article and photo montage about the item. Since these library collectible pieces are privately owned, they may at anytime be offered for sale in the future, so you should check back frequently to see if they have been offered for sale since your last visit. Note: If you've taken the time to register with our on-line store, you will see an option to create personalized wish-lists. Using that function, you can add items you'd like to follow and easily look up in future, to see if they've been made available for public sale.
