    Scoping the 1969 Romanian Trainer

My eyes just don't work with the iron sights any more, but I love the fold down sights on this rifle anyway. To hit anything, I really need a scope. Planning on a straight 4x, or maybe a 2-7x to keep the pkg. nice and neat and compact. I can't find rings to fit is the problem. The std. 3/8" tip off mounts are too wide to fit the narrow grooves on the Romy, and I thought getting a set of Warnes for the Euro airguns would fit. Wrong. They're even worse.

Can anyone recommend a set of rings that'll fit this neat little rifle? I'd really appreciate the help with it. Thanks in advance.

Usually, you can make tip off rings work by getting just a little more travel in the clamping bits. How you do it depends on what tools you have and the type of rings.

Generally, if you have a triangular/ 3-square file, you can make things work in 15min to an hour.

Stupidly enough, the cheap sheet metal ring on some "bargain basement" 3/4" tube scopes will often flex enough to fit w/o modification. It's a US$15 experiment that may work fine for you.
