A most useful penetrating oil that will free up parts which have resisted all other chemicals. Add a little heat where appropriate, and its even better!

Not a lube for regular use, might do for cleaning, but never really tried it.

    PB Blaster ?
It is re-labeled brake clean. Good for cleaning metal but may damage plastic or synthetic parts.

For penetrating oil mix acetone and ATF in a 50/50 mix, nothing beats it.

The best general gun care product I have found in forty years is Eezox. It's a synthetic solvent, lubricant and rust preventive. It cuts cosmolineicon like hot gasoline. I have unwrapped a few No4 Enfields and about a tablespoon of Eezox, a few paper towels and a few dozen q-tips is all you need to completely clean all the cosmoline from the rifle.

I like Eezox mighty well! Expensive. But I've hunted all season in the rain, w/ prepped rifles, never pulled them apart until the end of the season -NO RUST!!

Use what works for you, t'ain't no big deal.

If you have a dealer account at Midway you can buy in quart cans pretty cheap. The best price I have been able to find.
Try some next time you need to cut some cosmolineicon, it's amazing.

Me, a dealer? Only in nonsense...

I'm actually fairly well stocked up right now, but the US$24 spray can gets used VERY sparingly. The non-aerosol bottles, probably 4 or 5.

Second on the ATF-acetone mix, Best penetrant I've ever used. I've taken to using Duralube instead of regular gun oil. Unbelievable stuff.

It's not really the ATF. Add Acetone to any penetrating oil and it works a lot better, carries the heavier oil in. But it softens plastic and evaporates quickly so if soaking parts use a metal container and a tight aluminum foil seal on top. I use about 1/3 Acetone by volume.
