    No4 mk1 FTR Sporter

I was looking for a Deer rifle a couple of weeks ago and happened to walk into my local gun shop and a fellow had this for sale cash $150. Said it was a good shooter and it is. However once I got reading this forum I find there is quite a history here. I happen to love old things that work well and am very happy I bought this rifle. Thought I would post some pics to see if you learned gentlemen could add to what I have uncovered. I seem to have lost track after the FTR in Liverpool.
I have a new mag coming from Western gun parts and am considering putting all the proper wood back. Can't wait to at least refinish the horrible job someone did after hunting season.
    Thanks for having a look

The barrel now has a ramp front sight & has probably been shortened, so you will not be able to fit back original wood work.

It looks to be a nice sporter, so just enjoy it for what it is, the receiver ring has been tapped for scope mounting blocks probably Parker Hale.

From memory the Parker Hale Scope mount Blocks are A20 & B21. The B21 mount sits in place of the rear sight.
    Regards Simon

Leave it as is. Looks like a nice sported LE to me whihc isn't particularly special but will be a useful rifle to have around the place.

It's a good, cheap, fun hunting rifle for me. Has some history and after 65+ years I can hit a toonie at 100 yds. Peep sights are magically good so I probably won't scope it anyways. Going to keep my eyes open for a correct #4 mk1 T I think.

    Update

    Hi Folks
After some shooting I found the point of impact slightly to the right due to the front sight being cocked somewhat right looking down the muzzle. A friend and I bore sighted with a small laser and ended up moving the front sight blade .020" to correct. I have not been to the range yet but did get a Deer with it anyway.
I saw some kind of formula for adjusting sights on the bench?

'.......I saw some kind of formula for adjusting sights on the bench......' You saw some or want to know if there is one?

The backsight is graduated to x100 yard ranges but unless you are using military spec Mk7 ball ammunition, this range scale won't mean anything

    Your Pardon,
This means I saw some, but my aging brain can't remember where.
