Thumbs up Rifle I thought I would never own again

Recently acquired an M76 Yugoicon in 8 Mauser. Just like the one The ATF called back from me in 1975. This one has an American made receiver with no safety sear hole. . Finest "designated Marksman rifle" I have experienced. 922 compliant with original optics. Function and accuracy excellent. Regards Gary

More info if you get a chance, please! Haven't gotten to utilize one, but I keep hoping one will show up locally.

I was deeply impressed with the first one I had in 2002. The one I have now performs as the first one. Recoil is mild. This when shooting a 198 gr. cartridge. Target reacquisition is fast and positive. Formidable rifle. Optics are well balanced. Don't need the IR feature however. Gary

Congrats on the new boomstick! But what do you mean "The ATF called back from me"? That sounds like a story we need to hear.

The ATF allowed the import of the M76 in 2002. I bought one from SOG. In 2005 the ATF determined these rifles although always semi auto had a safety sear hole in the receiver. They recalled them. I got my money back but missed the rifle. Same thing happened later with the Romanian "PSL" . I was not involved with that. Just part of the hobby. gary

Oh, OK. Thanks for the explanation! Sorry about that, but I'm glad you got another one.

There is a nice one at "Shooters", a gunstore in Columbus, Ga. It is so sweet! The reticle is about like the reticle in a Dragunov scope. But the price on this Yugoicon M76 is well over $2,000.00 bucks, like $2,700.00. That's more than I can pay!

The dealers like SOG have them in stock for between $1100 and $1200. Look around on the internet and you can find them a lot cheaper then your local dealer.

Thanks Bruce. One day I might want to get me one. Right now I have a Mosin-Nagant 91/30 PU Sniper on layaway.
