    Australian M10 A2

Hi, how many of the Australianicon M10 A2's were imported into the US. Saw one at the Kansas City, Missouri gun show yesterday, did not last long. Sold for $850. Thanks Steve

Not many and that is probably a few dollars over the original price when new. I corresponded with someone (Kyle) who worked for AIA and he told me not many went to the US and they were never paid for them so they never shipped more.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

Actually they've recently started selling more rifles in Australiaicon. Theres a whole bunch of M10-B2s being sold through the military section on usedguns.com.au. None of the no.4 styled rifles yet though.

I recently read that The AIA rifles were of poor quality. I would still like to have one, heck, some of my old girl friends were of poor quality, but they they were great fun, and they looked great to.

Well there is someone who wrote a pretty disparaging article on AIA rifles and had never handled let alone fired one and that person from what I understand frequents this site. Now it baffles me on how you could do that especially questioning the things he did, I guess that would be as if I criticized a restaurant I had never frequented.. a real

They are far from perfect and it wouldn't take much to make them much better however everyone I have talked to that owns one says how accurate they are. Some of the edges on the receiver are a little sharp but I have enough intelligence to recognize that and handle accordingly.

They are heavy and carrying one for hours would be a chore however the weight helps reduce recoil and seeing as I shoot from a bench that is a good thing.

The wood is of high quality and well finished in every rifle I have seen.

One of the magazines for my 7.62X39 feeds better than the other, that being said it is the only problem I have with the gun. It shoots surprisingly accurate out to 300 yards and I think it would be OK for another 100 using milsurp ammo.

The B2 I shot last week was very accurate and fit and finish were more than acceptable.

The No4 MK4 my friend that owns the B2 has is very accurate as well and I think more than adequate for long range shooting.

The negative of today is the availability of parts, if you have a friend that could make you a new extractor or firing pin then your worries are over.

Bottom line is if I were a professional soldier would I want one, probably not. If I wanted to defend against the ZOMBIES that are apparently going to attack, I would be more than happy to have one...

Buy one, enjoy it and dream of the day you find a B3.

Just found a forum and AIA is back and they have made some nice changes to the rifles they will not market in the US again from what I have learned. Blued mags, receiver and barrel instead of parkerized and changed the forend design. I think they are very expensive compared to before and guess close to $2,000.00 now..that is just a guess as one post said one sold for that. They "look" better than ever.

Everyone might want to try our Google CSE custom search engine located in the top right corner below the words "Advanced Search". It only searches OUR site using Google techniques and can be quite efficient. For example, in your case, type in the words aia and see what happens ..

I checked and there are dozens of excellent old posts covering that topic…

Also, check the Technical Articles for Milsurp Collectors and Re-loaders (click here)

There are two old informative library entries on the AIA rifles, but approaching them from very different viewpoints of positive and negative.

AIA No. 4 Mk. 4 (Review by Stevo) (click here)

Australian AIA Rifles (Feedback and Opinion by Steve) (click here)

Please note that the author of "Australian AIA Rifles" Steve is not the same as the member Stevo, who wrote a separate review of the "AIA No. 4 Mk. 4 rifle."

    Hope these articles help ...

    Regards,
    Doug
