eBay sling - a little different than usual

I've seen some of these features on a sling before, but none just like this one. Comments?

    Thanks, - Bob

Looks like a legit sling with a lift the dot fastener. Webbing is correct,
When they tell you to behave, they always forget to specify whether to behave well or badly!

The Lift the Dot fastener might be a replacement, or it is also possible the sling is foreign. It does not look like a fake.

I thought the tips and webbing looked right, but wondered about the style and dimensions of the fastener parts along with the lack of ribbing on the back plate. I've got a Japaneseicon M1icon Carbine sling that has a similar plate. - Bob

I had over 4,000 slings of which about 1600 were WWII. I never saw a WWII sling with original Lift the Dot fasteners. Many contracts for spare fasteners were purchase during WWII and Life the Dot was one of many.

It looks foreign due to the type of marks but without actually handling it, I cannot be sure. It does not look fake.

BTW there were several different types of plates. Often the fastener will be replaced with a different type of plate.

FWIW I don't see one single feature on that sling that would make me believe it is a genuine USGI WWII sling. It screams 21st century Indian to me. But what do I know?

That sling had some features that look a lot like a couple I have that came from India. I've had them on my table at several gun shows with one priced at $4.00 and another (better one) at $8.00 and nobody has snapped them up yet. They even have a bit of rust in the same places and the same copper tinge to the slide. This seller (eBay) sold 4 or 5 of them recently for around $40 - $60. I still wonder about the story on them. Is that "Lift the Dot" fastener different than the ones you guys have seen? I had some gear when I was kid with "Lift the Dot" snaps but can't remember what they looked like. Maybe these are "second generation" Made in India slings! - Bob

The problem is the "Lift the Dot" has been being made for many years by various countries and companies. The name was not longer protected.

It might be fake, but without actually seeing it, I cannot be sure. It does look foreign.

The problem I have is I know the slings I have seen from India and the webbing does not look like those. Maybe there is a different or another maker faking them. That is also very possible.
