    Consecutively numbered M1903A1s

Whoever wanted to get the chance to own consecutively numbered M1903A1s, now here is the chance:

Serial 1.459.715: Springfield Armory Model 1903 Bolt Action Rifle with Bayonet
Serial 1.459.716: Inspected Springfield Armory Model 1903 Bolt Action Rifle with Bayonet

I've checked the SRS list, but they do not appear as a NM rifle. However, they are right between a block of DCM Sales rifles.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. I see no. "716" has the mysterious "L.T.T." final inspection stamp. My friend has one but its never been clear where "L.T.T." did his work or who he was.
One would think a big auction house would make some effort to describe the markings.

    Regards,
    Jim

Why would they not sell them as a package? Or is the idea to hook a seller into bidding more for each individually?

Yea, that's sort of like selling a rare book one page at a time.

I simply believe they did not realize that they have such a pair.

Well heck, would the pair of them be worth $4,000.00?

If they were the same two I looked at, I'd guess the worth, individually to be in the $800-900 range (haven't looked at the RIA auction). Maybe 25% extra for being consecutive? If they were both in pristine, original condition, that would be a different story.
