A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I found this video very helpful in identifying my 1944 Long Branch Enfield No.4 MK1 rifle. It seems that it should be a Savage but I can't find any defined Savage Marks on it. It also has "Englandicon" Stamped on the breach. If you could shed some light on this, please do and if you might have some idea of it's value for insurance purposes I would be grateful. On to the next identification journey. Thanks again. cdminder.

Refer to the England - Milsurp Knowledge Library (click here)

1943 Savage No.4 Mk1* Enfield Rifle (click here)

If it's a Savage, it will be stamped U.S. Property on the left side of the receiver, on the top edge.

Trying to establish a value without pics is virtually a waste of time. I've sent you two PM's (Private Messages). You need to read them. Check the top right corner of your screen for the Private Message area and flashing envelope.

I have a No.4 MK1 rifle with a stamp date of 1943. It also has markings "m47" and the S/N is AE69**. Is there any way you can tell me the manufacturer?
