Getting rid of that "musty" smell

Any suggestions on how to get rid of the musty smell which seems to accompany all the accessories to Sovieticon surplus weapons.

I'm sure a portion of it is cosmolineicon but there seems to be an undercurrent of possible mold and that is what I'm concerned with. I don't want the items to deteriorate because of something I can't really see but can possibly smell.

Some of the items are leather, some are that canvas covered material that resembles leather. I've thought about spraying them with Lysol and/or putting them out in the hot sun for a day and I expect the leather would survive that but not so sure about the man made materials.

Just plain soap and water would be an option to I suppose but that wouldn't likely kill the mold.

3/4 parts hydrogen peroxide and 1/4 part white vinegar mixed, use a toothbrush and give a light scrubbing to the items, pat dry with clean cloth and let dry in sun

I don't mind the smell. It reminds one of the perils of communism.

The smell isn't terrible. I'm just a bit concerned that mold is involved. I've sprayed things with lysol before and let them air dry but nothing of this type material and I'm not sure I want to risk it. I think we have both peroxide and white vinegar so I may try that.
