Chilean Mauser Bolt Sleeve Lock Pin

I own 3 M95 Mausers. Long, short and carbine. The first 2 I purchased were .308 cal. The 3rd one was 7mm. While cleaning the 7mm, I noticed the bolt sleeve had a locking pin, whereas the other 2 did not. Is this common with the .308, or just coincidence and what is usually the problem? Gunk buildup? Bad or no spring?

M95's did not have a bolt sleeve lock pin. That feature was introduced with the M98 Mauser.
