Gus Fisher sets up at the Richmond Gun shows. I suggest you take your Garand, get there early and get in the front of the line and rush thru the doors to his tables : they will be marked Gus's Garands in a big green / yellow sign.

I do not want to step on any toes regarding M1icon smiths but for my money: I trust Gus and he has a long established reputation as being top notch in the USMC shooting arena. I am a Army guy so this is not faint praise. There are Richmond shows in July so plan accordingly.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. I would have to agree if you are in Va during one of the gunshows he is setup at it is your loss if you do not go. I had him cut the chambers on 2 M1`s at one of the Hampton shows. It is a pleasure to watch him work and talk with him as well.

Anybody interested in Gus Fisher can communicate with him via M-14 Firing Line Public Forum - Powered by vBulletin
It's an M14/M1Aicon forum and Gus is a regular there with his own section. He is a most notable and generous source of information - a retired USMC match armorer.
