    Stock ID Help

This stock came on a CMPicon SG HRA 4742XXX. I don't think it is HRA. My thought is that is an SA stock. There are a lot of what I think are inspection stamps on the end of the butt but I don't see any proof P or cartouche/DAS. Could it be be a contractor made SA stock? Or am I totally wrong?

Thanks for any help, I'm terrible at analysing stocks.

    Merry Christmas all- Mike

Springfield stock. No one made them for Springfield.

A very poor book made this statement and it is false. I wished some people would research before they put misinformation in print. Rick Bicon

    Book For Sale?

Thanks Rick, that was an expensive book too. So, no contractors. Well, at least I had the main profile for a Springfield stock correct. Is there any way to tell if this was WW2 or Postwar?

I am disappointed in not finding a proof P, cartouche/DAS or Rebuild stamp. If there ever were they were sanded off. Will probably spend some more time going over it again with the magnifier to look for the ghost of a mark.

Have added a photo I neglected to post of the short op rod channel and another of the whole rifle.

    Regards- Mike

From what I see and all of my data records show me it is a late EMcF period stock. Hope this helps. Rick Bicon

    Interesting

    Rick,
Appreciate the info on it being a late EMcF as it has a mid-late WW2 wide base saw cut gas cylinder. It is fascinating how parts get mixed together over the years. Many thanks for the additional report.
