    1941 Johnson disassembly

    Hi folks,

I have some minor rust on the interior mag assembly of my 1941 Johnson. I want to take the mag cover off to get at it and from past experience know that it would be infinitely easier to re-insert the mag cover if the fore-end wood were removed (at least with the insertion method I use). Therefore I am seeking advice on removal of the wooden fore-end. Do I just remove the four screws and pull it off, or is there some disastorous, spring loaded complication or mind bending maze hidden there just waiting to give me grief??

Nope, it's easy. The mag itself is more of a challenge.

I suggest you buy the excellent reference book by Canfield. He answers e-mail also.

I acquired this Johnson rifle recently and saved it from the scrap yard. I cherish and respect it .

I followed the steps and this is what i got as a result.

It is a rather complicated process. Take you time.Be patient.

If you have any more difficulty give me a shout i will try to help but be patient as i am unfamiliar with this most precious history piece.

    Best of luck.

    Regards.

    Major Bob
