    Question 1903-A1 type C, new stock ?

"What we have here..... is a failure....... to communicate "

It would seem that I do not know what I have! I need to do more research and nail this thing down.
What I think I know is it is now a 1903-A1, since the original straight stock was sporterized and the new stock is a C type. The hitch is the new stock came with an A-3 hand guard. ( I feel like an IDIOT!)
So I will be either milling one or picking up an original .
Would anyone know where one might procure one?

    and the search goes on:

1903 sprimgfields are marked 1903 on the top of the receiver, 1903A3,s are maked 1903A3 on the top...a 1903A1 would be malked 1902,..and serial numbered higher then 1million2.

    Thank you!

The Information I have gathered as of yet: Remington 1903 and it was a spoterized straight stock. A new stock was ordered for a 1903-A3, we were in error when we ordered , so the hand guard is wrong.
I have been told and have read that the rifle was produced in June or July of 1942 as a 1903. ( and is so marked )
Since the new stock is a "C", would it now be considered a 1903-A1?
What I really would like, is to lay my hands on is a hand guard for a 1903 since the rifle has the flip up rear site.
I have a collectors book I will be ordering for my self and plan to bone up on this rifle

Thank you for your input and hope all is well with you and yours

no,,,jut dropping a 1903 in a C stock....does not make it a 1903A1. only rifles modified by the Gov, and sold via the DCM, as a 1903A1 would be a 1903A1... and those would only be a 1903 Springfield.. i have the DCM sales records of most of the 1903A1,s sold...and none are below serial number 1million2, as i posted.
