    Shoting Coats

I saw this topic here before, but whether it was on the old location or the new location, I don't know. I tried to do searches to find the comments on brands of jackets, but it doesn't come up. I've tried various brands and types of coats by now. I'd like to see what people have in comments about what can be bought, based on their experiences. I've pretty much decided on leather, though. I'm coming from a canvas shooting coat and find that leather seems to have the most similar feel in that it's not rigid, and I appreciate that, but I'd consider opinions against leather. My problem with the cordura coats was that they were rigid in places that I didn't want or need them to be, and I had to work around getting them in place before I brought the gun to my body, something additionall that I don't think I want or need. Maybe they fit someone else's body better. The brands I've tried are:

    Champion Shooter's Supply Heavy Cordura
    Champion's Choice Leather
    Creedmoor Sports Heavy Leather Hardback

Of those, I'd say that I like the Creedmoor and the Champion's Choice about the best.

I'll throw in another name: Monard. A couple of our shooters have a Monard, and the one that I first saw with one says he likes his better than the Creedmoor that he had. He complained about the stitches always coming apart.

    Thanks for any help,

    Danny

    Coat

    Best of both, IMO

Cordura hardback (desert digital) and cream leather arms.

I started out with a cloth 10X this is by far the most comfortable in sitting and prone as it does not ride up in those positions however it lacks any support in the offhand position.I then went to a leather hardback Creedmoor which greatly improved my offhand but is not the most comfortable in the other positions as it does ride up on the neck.
I now use a Creedmoor cordura hardback with the zipper adjustments on the sides and this prevents the jacket from riding up,it still does a little but not as bad as the leather.
But for many shots in prone I still pull out an old 10X as this is still the most comfortable and in prone you only really need the arm pulse pad and elbow pads.My opinion for what it's worth your mileage may vary.

Creedmoor Cordura hardback is the way to go. You will see more of those on the firing line than anything else. Why? Cause they are good and work. Get light colors so you arent roasting in the sun in the summer.

I've got a Creedmoor Hardback and mostly like it. The stitching on the rubber pads seems to tear easily.

If you're of average build fit probably won't be a problem with any brand.

If you're in that other percentile think about a Monard. They take a lot more measurements and each coat is almost a custom fit.

    coat

If your coat rides up too much, Creedmoor can remove material so it does not bother you. Best to get into position with your gear and have someone mark off where it hits your head or ear muffs and send trhe coat to them and they can fix the problem.
