I am far from knowledgeable about a Lee Enfield. I can tell you the unaltered rifles are chambered in .303 Britishicon and that you should have the headspace checked; the bolt head is removable & interchangeable just for this purpose. Have the bore checked; badly eroded bores may not be safe to shoot. Check the firing pin for damage; the tip should be smooth & hemi-spherical. Magazines were fitted to individual rifles and are not truly interchangeable; a new mag may need fitting before it feeds reliably.

Parts, including magazines are available from Gun Parts Corportaion (google it) However, the main part of this website has lots of info on LEs; they may be able to point you to a better source.

Is the old Birmington Small Arms (BSA) the same company that today sells optics?

Don't worry, buy the mag/s, No. 1 mkIII mags are the same as the III*. Completely.

Bigmo, try posting your info on the Lee Enfield board. More info available and part sources talked about. Just a hint.

No, they bought the rights to use the name.
The BSA Group collapsed in the 1960s with heavy debts.
