Phoenix Show at Bisley today

Great weather,
Saw a brace of unused no. 5's really very very nice and a really good Parker Hale M83.
for some reason a shed load of SMLE's including a nice grenade laucher and a private purchase SMLE target rifle.
As per usual there was the usual collection of TAT including a very rough enforcer, with an updside down reticule on the scope ?????
i was tempted at the USMC 1903 sniper with original USMC unertl scope £4300 was a little much for me (£4250 too much !)

A friend of mine went and said there was a 4t in the box for £1,400 - did anyone see that?
He couldn't get near to get a closer look - but this was on Sat so if it handn't sold by then at that price then presumably something wasn't right...

It was still there this morning; assuming it was the one in the tent outside the pavilion.

I came home with a very nice P14 Fulton converted 7·62mm target rifle (thank you, you know who you are! ) and I also have a "Whittaker Special" waiting in Fultons for me, they need a bit of time to put a rear sight together for it, those of you wondering what a Whittaker is, it's a 7·62 target conversion of a No 4 which has a one piece stock, I hadn't seen one for sale for about 2 years and I counted 3 at the show.

If it was the no4T that i looked at it was on sale for £4400 not £1400, there were also a few other No4Ts for sale at various prices.

If so that would also explain why it hadn't sold!

Have you actually seen your Whittaker special yet? Many years ago I bought from a pal of Bert W's a sack containing 4 receivers that were destined to become specials & have the butt sockets cut off. Luckily his mate, although intending to carry on the tradition, felt he couldn't cut up these 4 bodies. I'm so glad he didn't; they were all T's: 43 BSA, 44BSA x 2, & a 31 Trials (all with pads still on & Trials with cut off). I think I paid the princely sum of 40 quid each. Mind you, it was a long time ago......

A fairly brief look to be honest Roger; it's funny that my view on the rifle is, "what's the bore like?" and "is the woodwork in good nick?" "are these the original sights" etc.

You on the other hand are probably thinking, "another buggered 4T!"
It does go to show what little value we placed on 4T's a few years ago.
