    Thumbs up

Hi, my name is Pieter and I am a gun addict....................HI! PIETER.............

Ok, jokes asside. I have been into guns since I can remember, I found this Forum when I was trying to get more information regarding a LE no4Mk2 which I bought for R1000 (SA Rand)
I am a radio technician, origanally qaulified in 1992 as an Avionic Radio Tech in the South African Air Force. My dad was a career soldier in the South African Army since the age of 16 and did his basic training with a LE No4 Mk2, which was later replaced by the FN FAL (aka the R1) during the late '60s. The R1 was then replaced by the R4 and R5 (localy made versions of the IMI Galil).

My great granddad fought in Northen Africa during WW2 and passed away at the age of 103 in the late '70s.

Milsurps has surprised me with the amount of information , not just on Lee Enfields but also on period rifles.

I have submitted my licence aplication for my LE and should get it in about 2 mounths time, I will post pics once I have recieved it.

The LE No4 Mk2 which I got, caught my eye because it had 3 gun belt attachments. The third is one on the main action screw in front of the mag well, as found on the No2MK1(T) but the rifle does not have the Scope attachment like the T model. So far I could not find any information on any T models in South Africa.
I will post pics for comment when I get the rifle.

I am sure I am going to spend many hours here!

    Hello

Just a note to all. I'm a longtime collector of antique firearms, weapons, Civil War, and old lever guns. Just recently picked up a couple Mausers and have developed an interest in M1Carbines.

Just found this forum; I am not what you might call a serious gun nut, but I have several vintage guns and from time to time look for related information. Hope this forum turns out to be informational.

    Newbe to sight

    Hello Military Surplus members,

I'm new to the site but have had military sporterized rifles for some time. I'm currently wanting to restore a Britishicon Enfield 303 No4 MK1/2 that is eighty percent complete and am looking for information and advice on doing this project.

The rifle, as it is now, is missing the forward stock components, extractor mechanism, safety mechanism, butt plate, storage kit, and trigger gaurd.

What I would like is info on suppliers for parts, gunsmithing advice and general knowledge.
Your help and advice is greatly appreciated.

    Bob

    Hi, folks.

I've been a collector for many years now starting with a Rusian Mosin Nagant that my son bought fo me. I've got a bit of everything now. I'm looking forward to enjoying the forum.

Hello to all, I just signed up to research the numbers and markings on a sporterized LB No.4 Lee Enfield I got from my Dad.
There were some markings on it I did not understand but I was able to get answers off this great data base. The serial number is still a mystery to me, is it possible that Parker Hale re numbered these conversions?
I had a few mint No.4's imported into Canadaicon in the 90's.They were RIC No.4s in the wrap and grease. Sadly, I had to leave them with a "friend" during a change of life situation, he saw fit to sell them off on me. Oh well....guess I can restart my collection.
