My name is Walt, I have owned my Britishicon 303 No4 Mk1* reconfigured to a Mk1/3 since the 1970s - back when I was a pup in my 20s. It is a good shooting rifle and I plan on passing it on to my son-in-law with a request that he pass it on to his son - my grandson. Hopefully it will stay in the family for generations. I worked offshore in the oil & gas exploration / production business as a Captain on a crewboat which kept me away from home for long periods of time. After 40 years, I finally retired in 2015. I'm a little rusty, but still enjoy shooting targets and when I'm lucky, a white tailed deer to put in the freezer / pot.

    Peter1916

Hello, I'm Peter. I've been reading this forum's info for years but never posted. I've been involved with firearms since I was 5- these days mostly WW1 collecting and historical presentations in schools. I was lucky to buy a Lee Metford MK1* 1889 recently, rough shape but mostly complete. Who should I talk to about it? I need info on how to disassemble the 8 round magazine. Thanks.

    Smile Introduction

Hi, Nick Perry from Wellington, New Zealandicon introducing myself to this forum. I have some pretty broad interests involving the collection and use of military firearms - mainly Lee Enfields at this time although I picked up a nice Siamese Mauser at an auction the other day - so may diverge into Mauser collecting at some stage down the track !
Get out hunting quite often and have just finished reconditioning a sporterised P14 so will be taking it out on my next trip - have started reloading as well which adds to the fun factor.
Looking forward to gaining from the collective knowledge and expertise of forum members

    Hi

Hello guys , new member here.

Been reading your forum for a few days now and found it extremely informative.

Ive just recently started getting into war memorabilia stuff, started out with bayonets etc. But yesterday my wife bought me a Mk II 1942 D Bren gun. Which I absolutely love.

One question guys , What does the D stand for above the 1942 date?

    cheers

    Hello to all,
Having read a lot of interesting threads on this forum in the past few months,I thought it's about time to join, so I did today. Bought my first milsurp, an 1862 Tower musket from an antique dealer at age 15 (needed a note from my Dad) and have been collecting everything milsurp ever since. I have adopted the "no wallhanger left behind" policy, and love it. I enjoy reading on this forum and I am grateful for all I have learned here, and hope that I can contribute something of value in the future. Thanks to all, leadhawg.

Well, I'm not an expert on Gustloff in particular, or even modern (i.e. nitro-fuelled) Mausers. But if you would care to post photos of the object of your interest on the forum, so that others can see them as well, I would be happy to see if I can say something useful about it!
At the moment, posting photos isn't working for me either. So if you have difficulty with them, the alternative method seems to be to use Photobucket.
