    Buttplate on wood stock

Just acquired a L1A1 w wood furniture. After running 20 rounds thru it, I've decided that I'd like to keep the repairs done to my shoulder a couple years ago intact.
That being said, will the buttplate that's on the composite stock fit on the wood or am I going to have to custom make one? Hoping a little padding is better than metal......

The composite one won't fit onto a wood stock, sorry. Can only suggest that a composite one will do the same damage that an alloy/wood combination will do

Thanks guys!!!! Wasn't sure if the pad that goes on the "plastic" was friendly. That slip on pad looks like it might be the ticket.

Try adjusting the gas regulator to reduce the recoil.

Was using "Australianicon" mil surplus ammo. Finally started ejecting at 1 setting. Think the gas rod is stuck/clogged up? Maybe I'm just a wimp.
Haven't picked up a manual for this gun yet, don't want to be prying stuff apart.....

"...to my shoulder..." Something ain't right. The felt recoil with any FAL is negligible with any ammo. Changing the butt plate won't matter. Usually smacks you on the cheek Doesn't if the butt stock is the right length for you. They're not all the same length. Too short or too long isn't good. Should be a letter on the bottom of the butt stock near the action. S, N, L or XL. Marstar, up here, has C1A1 butt stocks, but no mention of the length. Not cheap at $90Cdn, either. Gunparts lists metric butt stocks at $34.65, no length given either.
Go here for a free .pdf manual. Note the need for the provided UN & PW. Download the 'FN-FAL Users' manual. It's easier to read.

Update..... I figured out that the gas tube was unscrewing and eventually covered up the port. Pin was missing. Much happier with the weapon now.

No markings on buttstock, know the handguards are Australianicon from the type of heatshields on em.
Thanks to all for the replies.
