do keep in mind there were stocks made in scotland for the P14 weedon repairs that did not have provisions for the stock disc and volley sights , so one cannot determine if its made for the M17 simply by those lacking elements ,
the US markings are an indicator however ,

she is a handsome rifle , and deserves her stacking swivel

Why would the Weedon Arsenal put US arsenal markings on a newly made stock? Doesn't make sense to me. Additionally, those stocks did not have full lengh grasping grooves on the left side, though there was no milling for the dialer plate.

Against my purist judgement, I think I am going to have my 1917 restoration rifle reblued.

yes , thats what i was saying , even though it is an M17 stock as noted by the US markings ,

there was a weedon replacement for the P14 made in scotland , which is the point of my indicating lack of stock disc/lack of volleys/grasping grooves is not neccessarily an indicator of it being M17 ....thats all i was pointing out ,
