    Removing 98 mauser floorplate

How does the 98 mauser floorplate come off the triggerguard? I have removed the floorplate catch pin, floorplate catch and the floorplate catch spring. But it is stuck.

Don't remove anything. Push in the catch and then slide the floorplate toward the trigger guard. If you have removed all restraints and it is stuck you may need to use a bit of force. It just slides back so don't pull up till you release it.

Thank you very much Howasan. It had me frustrated. Have installed my 20 round magazine and will test it out soon.

How did you get the floorplate release out of the triggerguard housing? I wanted to replace the release on my rifle. I see a retaining pin, but it won't budge. I do not want to damage anything. Do I have to tap it out with the release button in its normal spot or do I have to hold it in before tapping out the retaining pin?

I've had one that was extremely difficult to get out, it was stuck in there with some little dings to the plate almost peining it into the triggerguard housing, as well as heaps of crusted up grease/oil/gunge. I removed the triggerguard with the plate on it, and put some oil in it. Then I dried it out, and heated it a bit, then with the latch depressed I drove the plate back towards the triggerguard with a wooden block and a small mallet(put the block against the front edge of the plate and tap it back with the mallet).
I'd looked at the pin you're talking about, but the mechanism was fine, they can just get stuck... hard.

He has a very scarce(if it's real) accessory. When he first said that I thought...Pics? Even if it's not original, it's still neat.
    Regards, Jim
