Marlin lever action 30 cal carbine

I just ran onto this on Gunbroker and thought some might think it's interesting.

    http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIte...Item=129265829

My dad bought one back in the 60's for my first deer rifle when I was little. I've only seen one other since then.
They have the sweetest, short throw lever action I've ever seen.

I never shot a deer with it, but I was a terror on armadillos at my dad's lease near Del Rio, Texas.
The rancher who owned the land paid me fifty cents for every armadillo I shot.

    Those were best of times.

    OH,Great,...

    something else to get!!

That is realy nice, it would make a nice HD firearm. Surprise they didn't use the M1icon 5-shot magazine.

I never considered a lever gun in .30 carbine, but one of the new model 1892's in .30 carbine would be pretty neat. I'd have to have one.

    Faulkner,

It was sure a neat little rifle. It certainly wasn't good for much of anything, but it was a neat little rifle!

I was browsing old posts and this one spoke to me.

I have used a .30 Carbine (from a GI M-1 Carbine) to kill a 175+ pound deer in Kalifornia about 20 years ago using 110 JHP (or was it JSP?) Winchester ammo. Shot it at about 75 yards, single heart lung shot. It ran a short distance and died. Hell of an exit hole. See, a 30 Carbine Marlin HAS a purpose.

I've taken several south Arkansas whitetails with a .30 carbine. Not the most effective round to use on deer, but it'll do the job at short range with effective shot placement.

As a sidebar, I think the new .327 Magnum round would be a dandy in a lever gun.
