Thoughts on a Randall Fighter

I just got a Randall Knife Catalog, and while part of me thinks it's borderline insanity to spend $350-500+ on a Randall Fighting Knife, another part of me finds the history of these knives to be very interesting and the 4 year wait extremely rare for a consumer product in America.... I can't help thinking that there has to be something special about these knives to make them so sought after.

What is the general consensus here on these Randall made fighting Knives? I am really thinking about ordering one.

Nice knife probably not really worth that kind of money but by the time you get it maybe it will be worth it. I have gotten 4 or 5 Randalls in the last decade and have one on order now it was due in August but that slipped a couple months. It will be over 4 years from order to receipt on this one the first one I bought took about 2 years. IMHO everyone should have at least one really nice knife. A Randall may be that knife for you.

There are a lot of Randall knives for sale at gun shows. Unless you plan to order several options to customize your knife, I would suggest looking at gunshows first. They will normally be a little higher, but unless you prepay your Randall, the price in four years may be close.

and you'll like them I think. Over the years, I've purchased several Randalls and never regreted my decision. Other than once you buy one, that'll get you thinking of another . . . that's why I said "buy some". Semper Fi.

As an added note, Randall knives are about the only custom knives I know of that you can just about be assured that you can get your original purchase price back, and if kept long enough, make a little money.
The ivory handled Randall shown above was somewhere around $65 when originally purchased some 40 years back.

Randall locks in your price when you make the deposit of $50. SO in 4 years it may seem a bargain compared to current retail. I know this for a fact I have several on order right now and have gotten 4 or 5 in the last 10 years.
