The Truth About 308 Win and 762 NATO

A little info that some people might find interesting that is not over exaggerated or based on urban myth.

Is it safe to shoot 308 Winchester in a rifle chambered for 7.62 NATO?
    What about 7.62 in a 308?

"FALphil's" article is new to me but I'm quite familiar with Jim Bullock's writings, as are many here on this board. He first introduced us to it on the now defunct "Britishguns.net" site.

Even before he wrote that up, my rule of thumb was to avoid using once fired commercial brass in milspec chambers. Through actual shooting, none of us have ever had a problem using factory loaded 308. I've said this more than once and I'll say it again....
I have yet to see a casehead seperation using 308 brass in a military rifle which didn't involve a reload.

... and I´ve yet to see (or experience) one even with re-loaded cases. Mine have re-cycled more than ten times now. The necks are getting thicker and will have to be reamed soon. And the rims are getting nibbled a bit by the extractor. That´s all.

    PS

Ed ... we knew all that. There´s no real difference.
