    Observations: (by "Badger")

The Krag-Jørgensen is a repeating bolt action rifle designed by the Norwegians Ole Herman Johannes Krag and Erik Jørgensen in the late 19th century. It was adopted as a standard arm by Denmark, the United States and Norway. A distinctive feature of the Krag-Jørgensen action was its magazine. While many other rifles of its era used an integral box magazine, the magazine of the Krag-Jørgensen was integral with the receiver (the part of the rifle that houses the operating parts), featuring an opening on the right hand side with a hinged cover. The cartridges were inserted through the side opening, and were pushed up, around, and into the action by a spring follower.

    Collector's Comments and Feedback:

    1. Why you have to be careful collecting Krags!! Here are some examples of some stock cartouche stamps being sold on eBay.
Make sure you check the provenance of any Krag rifle or carbine you're thinking about buying and inspect all wood markings closely.

    4. Although this particular video below is not about the rifle, it's still an interesting look at the Krag being fired. Here's an 1896 Krag-Jorgensen Calvary Carbine (Guns and Ammo Review) ...... (Feedback by "Badger")

Thanks for the write up and slide show. I bought a Krag this past weekend. Bolt is like silk, bore is still in decent shape. Cant wait to shoot it once it's cleaned. Mine was made in 1900, so is very close to identical to the one in the slide show.

Uhhh - the U.S. Krag is NOT (other than 100 rifles and 100 carbines experimentally fitted with the Parkhurst device, but never issued to troops) "loaded with chargers" !!!
It is disturbing to see a mis-statement of this magnitude.
