Thumbs down Enfield No 4 Mark I .303 sniper rifle - Value?

    Hello,

I have an Enfield No4 MKI sniper rifle (1944). It has a lovely dark wood stock (in excellent shape), and comes with the telescope (numbers on scope, match the box it resides in, as well as the stamped number on the rifle - a sticker in the scope box also says what rifle the scope belongs to). I am interested in selling this item - but would like to know the current market value, before listing it for sale.

If anyone can be of assistance, I would appreciate it!

    Thank you,

    Matthew

    Hi Matthew,

A lot depends on where you live, and how original (authentic) the rifle and all the parts are. A true No4 Mk1 (T) in Canadaicon can go for, maybe $3,500? I think I've seen them sell for that much or around. Anyone feel free to correct me my knowledge about that market is... limited.

I’d say your close for a No4Mk1(T) here in Canada as a starting point. As stated it’s value will depend on your location and a number of other factors such as the number of correct serial number matches, extra accessories and rarity of components (scope etc.). Matching examples have sold recently here in Canada from $3500.00 to as much as $5000.00.

    No4 MkI

Sorry gentlemen - I didn't realize that I had posted on a Canadianicon board - I am in Alaska (some think we are a part of the US ...).

The s/n on the gun matches with the gun number on the scope box - as well as the s/n on the scope matches a number stamped onto the stock of the rifle.

I will attach a few pictures.

Thank you all for your help.

Don't get the wrong impression, this is pretty much an "international" board!

I do think that Canadaicon has a higher-than-usual ratio of Lee Enfield lovers though.

I also do know that the market is quite different between the US and Canada. Anyone in the US has seen No4Mk1(T)'s for sale recently?

I agree, a lot has to do with location, location, location. For a collector of sniper rifles the manufacturer and model of the scope can make it more desirable. Good luck and drop me a note when you decide...

Here are a few US postings I came across:

No 4 MkI* Savage (rifle only) -- $1,150.00 (For Sale)
No 4 MkI Savage (rifle, scope, and mount) -- $2,750.00 (For Sale)
No 4 MkI Savage (rifle only) -- $1,350.00 (Sold)

I also came across a closed posting with an asking price of $6,000.00; however, I was unable to tell if it had a new owner or not.

I know very little about No 4 MkI(T) rifles, which is why I do not own one at this time. With my luck, I would post my great new purchase only to find out it is a fake.

It is on my wish list, but I need more knowledge of what I am looking at so that I can look for the small things that will warn me to walk away!!

Thank you for the information - here is some information that might help you in your search for a No4 MK1(T) Enfield - after reading I am even more tempted not to sell - but the thoughts of the house that I am building ...

“Is my Lee Enfield sniper rifle a fake

Thank you again for the help,

    Matthew

    P.S. I also found one for sale for $6k at Cabela's http://www.cabelas.com/gun-inventory...-enfield.shtml

Mine looks like this one very much - the rifle might be in a little worse shape - but the scope is every bit as nice - and I have the box (numbers matching)

the $6K sniper is in my local Cabela's so, if anyone is interested, I could have a peek when I go to pick up my No4 Mk1/2 that I have been drooling over....
