    While we are talking slings

Just bought a bunch and found this unusual the sling on the left has one tip that appears to be zinc plated, the opposite tip is Chrome. The sling on the right has one zinc plated tip and the other end is plain steel.[/IMG]

    Hi Curt,

Maybe Bill Ricca can shed some light on these.

Will you fill us in with more detail where you came up with these? It almost looks as if the ends have been replaced from the photo. Maybe repaired? The weave doesn't look right, but maybe it's just the photo and I understand there were a few rare instances they used different web. The clasps look right.

Always something new to learn -

    Now with lots of slings

I got these from the old paratrooper guy that advertise's on the CMPicon board. In my conversations with him it appears he knows a fella with a garage or barn with a alot of web gear and everynow and then he is allowed to go in and buy a potato sack full. I needed a few so I bought extra's planning for the future.I will probally pick out a couple to sell on here as well. As soon as I opened the package and saw the look on the wife's face when the smell hit I was pretty sure they were real, like they have been vapor sealed for 40 years, most have a little fretting from the 1A band. Also picked up a 44 date Garandicon sling. Price was great. He threw in a free Korea era carbine belt pouch. There are 3 with mixed up ends, and the more Khaki one in the pic has a very tiny buckle on it, almost half the size of the rest.[/IMG]

Bought some from old paratrooper also. Looked like yours. The bend/crimps on the c-tip look correct.
