    VG+ to FIne 1877 = 1200.00

A very decent semi-rare TD. Fair price, aif not an outright bargain.
    **********
Model 1877 Trapdoor rifle. This rifle was manufactured in 1877 and still has an excellent original ESA/1877 cartouche on the stock. It has been arsenal updated along the way with the addition ot a slightly later Model 1879 rear sight, but the balance of the rifle appears to be completely correct and original. Still has the early high-arch breechblock, correctly marked, as is seen on the earlier 1877 production. This rifle is chambered for .45-70, appears to be in perfect working order and has an excellent, bright bore that exhibits sharp rifling and no pitting. Finish is original on metal and wood. The metal is a smooth patina for the most part, and is free of pitting. There are no cracks in the stock and just one tiny shallow chip gone in front of the trigger guard. The Model 1877 is one of the harder to find trapdoors with just 20,000 rifles manufactured between 1877-1878. As 1877's go, this is a very good example.
