    A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered.  Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle.     D 28290

    You have the early D 28290 SA trigger housing, first few thousand were without the "pad" inside (photo). These were produced with the large .375 inch pad, most were modified during rebuild to the narrow size pad

    this one still has large pad. What year rifles are these correct for?

    Modified D 28290 trigger housings

    The D 28290 lasted until mid 1940, being replaced with the revision 1 trigger housing. Some were modified and had the -1SA hand stamped

    Ok. I think ive got it now. There is no - numbers because at the time this housing was built, there was no revisions to the design? Thanks for your help.
