SLING 3 (unmarked) is a repop for sure.

The others appear to have steel buckls.

I have examples of blacked brass and steel buckls.

Sling 3 is a WWII Tommy Gun sling. It's no repro.

Sure. I'd be delighted to take a look. Can you post or e-mail pictures?

I make no claim to being an expert at sorting real slings from excellent repros.

@JB; There is always more to learn. Using unequivocal language has never helped me.

The buckls on # 3 really look odd to me. Though the weave does look right. Short of measuring what is the "tell" that it is a TSMG sling?

I'll own up, sling#3 was a sling I was bidding on but lost, here's the rest of it. So it's actually a TSMG kerr sling. I was trying to study what legit weaves and hardware look like. Thanks for the posts!!...All right, who which one of you won it (-:...congrats!

    Question

This is what I have. The top sling is one I've had for a few years. I don't remember where I got it but I suspect it is the real thing. It has markings only on the metal hardware. The bottom sling I've had for 30 + years but have always suspected it was not the real thing. The blackened hardware sling has no markings at all on it anywhere. After reading that the blackened hardware was for the Tommy gun I now have my doubts. Both have the same weave. TIA
