Need advice on what to do....(Garand)

I bought the Scott A. Duff book and used it to detail all of the parts on my Jan '44 SA CMPicon Garandicon, serial number 2.44M.

I've found one part that is not correct for the Jan. '44 production date and one I am not completely sure about.

The Safety lever is obviously wrong as it is a C46015-4 WRA.

The Operating Rod is the one I am not sure about. It appears to be a straight cut / flat side with D35382 SA. -Is this correct?

For the parts that aren't correct, should I look to find period correct replacements or should I leave them as they are? I know it is my rifle and solely personal preference, but what is the prevailing wisdom?

    Thanks.....

Here is a picture of the rifle.

    To make correct...

you will need a SA-11 safety and a curved side 9-SA rod. You could swap someone easily for the safety. You will want a SA-11 with the dash centered like you see here. Some are dashed low (bottom of letters) or at the top. The curved side 9-SA is a little tougher to find but you might check DuPage Trading as they still might have them.

Nice looking rifle by the way.If it was mine and that was all that was wrong I would change the parts.

It seems like you have already answered you question by posting this. I would also look to find the coorect parts. That's the whole fun in collecting. When you finally get the rifle to it's correct state, buy yourself a soda.

No no no.....I bought the stock separately and it is a very nice reproduction stock. The stock it initially came with was quite extensively beat up.

The op-rod with your rifle is post WWII, they used that one right before the 77-series Rods came out, all the way to the early 60s.
