    US marked H&R Model 12

Recently picked up this H&R model 12:

    Alas, no sights.

Anyone familiar with what sights this rifle originally had?

It came with Redfield Palma rear sight and a Redfield Olympic front sight. It will shoot with the best rifle out there.

    Thanks, MKIII.

I notice that it comes with scope blocks too. They look pretty far apart--does it take one of those mile long Unertl scopes, too?

I'll get to work looking for some Redfield sights

Yes those far apart scope mounts are for a Unertl, Lyman, and other type target scopes. Your Redfield sights show up on Gunbroker or ebay all the time. Probaly in the 200.00 plus range. Happy hunting.

Would the Redfield Olympic or International rear sights work also?

I am sure both would work just fine. But when the Military purchased them it had the Redfield Palma rear and Olympic front. Not sure but I believe the Palma was the only sight Redfield was making at that time or the best one.

If I could ask, what did you pay for it. I have one I I'm going to sell. It is a CMPicon and unfired since I got it. Thank you for your help. Rog

I got mine at an estate sale without the sights for a pretty good deal. The sights were about the same as the gun.

    Nice 100yd group.

Buy plenty of that Federal ammo w/ the same lot number! Next batch you get is almost certain to be worse (in that rifle). I have no idea why 22lr is so fickle, but...

Of course, it'll probably shoot well w/ the high priced stuff too, but "why spend more" if it's not required?
