    Range report on M39 @ 100 yds.

I'm 62 and a little shaky so I shoot off the bench (gave up 50 yd. free pistol shooting a while ago - got too discouraging). I have only a 100 yard range. This is a five shot group w/a 1943 M 39 SK.Y. I shoot .308 bullets in it, have tried .311 but these work as well & I have a lot of them.
My only additional shooting aid is a stick-on pinhole disc on my shooting glasses, it increases my range of focal depth. I can't do this every time, but in general this is one of my most accurate Finns. I've never taken it apart - been afraid of screwing up the bedding.

    Hi kari,

that is an really nice shooting ! Interesting the range of diameters for the M39.
Now i know it from your .308 up to .312. I like the finn`s more than the russians.

    Regards

    Gunner

Nice shooting. I'll have to try the .308's. Tried some surplus 147gr pulled bullets that are .310, 50gr A4350, col 3.000. Not quite as good as your group.

I've thought about trying a disc on glasses as my eyes are getting older.

If seeing the front sight is difficult try using a pair of reading glasses. Go to a drug store, etc., that sells reading glasses and pick a pair that will allow you to clearly see your front sight. I have found that a 1x pair allows me to shoot both revolvers/pistols and my beloved 1903/1903-A3 rifles with very good accuracy. Maybe this might help someone else. Sincerely. BruceV.
