    Snail Drum Pouch

I picked this up quite a few years ago here in Berlin. I know that they weren´t ever mil issue but haven´t been able to find a maker´s mark or when it was made. Don´t know when pop fasteners were invented or first used. Apparently, snail drums only became available to the civilian market some time after 1920. The old lad I obtained it from had been an infantry officer. He also sold me the snail drum and loading tool.

Here's a question not directly related to the pouch, which I don't think I've ever seen in person, but rather to the whole Luger ensemble- What with the long range sights , large magazine capacity, and detatchable shoulder stock options, was there ever a select fire version? Seems a natural evolution, but don't recall ever having heard of one.

An article on the "Reihenfeuer LP 08" (full auto) by Goertz & Kornmayer appeared in Germanyicon some years back. Apparently `twas taken off a dead German officer who had been fighting partisans in the Frenchicon Alps. It was thought that the pistol had been an experimental prototype taken from the German Rifle Testing Commission in Berlin Spandau. It was sold to the U.S for over $5.000.

The Commission dropped the idea due to the excess rate of fire. Luger never patented a full auto P 08. There Mexican (Navarro) and Swissicon (Senns) patents and full auto side plates were sold in Germany post-war.

I´ve had a Luger override the stop and go full auto. It was NOT pleasant ... `twas highly dangerous and almost impossible to hold.
