Holster appears to be for a 4" revolver.

Holster made for the S&W Victory which was a favorite of the Navy flyboys.

I've been fortunate enough over the past years or so to add a couple of nice Victory's to my small collection, one of which is USNavy marked. Harder yet was finding a couple of nice shoulder holsters for them.
Couldn't help but post some pics. I do like my Victorys.

Thanks Harlan. Fortunately that old adage about the "blind squirrel" still plays out occasionally.
Have a very Merry Christmas!

It's a Postal issue, holster, Post Masters were required to carry guns on their persons. I have one exactly like it, only in better condition, I got it out of the basement of a 1928 Post Office and asked the Post Master about it. He said all Post Masters were issued and carried them.

An M3 marked 'USN' for the U S Navy was probably not a Postal Service issue item. The Postal Service actually had some holsters marked as such. The M3 was typically used by Naval aviators and Army tankers, as it was also configured for the M1911A1 as well.
