1915 NRA Sales rifle

I was emailing with a gentleman about a rifle he picked up at a gunshow in SW Washington. It was a nice M1903 but he said he was disappointed in it because it was a low numbered '03 and not the "shooter" he desired. I figured out a way we could both be happy, and a nice "shooter" M1903A3 was on its way to him (plus a fair amount of cash - another rifle is going on the block and I'll be having a BIG book sale shortly!) and his M1903 was on it's way to me!

The rifle I bought is an NRA Sales rifle from 1915. It is s/n 601,172, with a 4-15 barrel. It has seen some use and is not in the same shape as it's slightly young "twin", my 1915 NM, (605,178). But everything is complete and the bore is excellent (about a 2 on MW). The stock has a JSA inspection stamp, as does the NM. It also has a couple of small cracks, but not real noticeable. The safety has the common problem of not working unless you pull back the cocking piece slight. Not to worry, this rifle will be fussed and petted over - it won't see a gun range!

It also came with a well-worn, but still usable Rock Island 1914 M1907 sling.
