    German 1938 8mm Ammunition

Hello, First off this is my first post on this site. I joined tonight, and was wondering if anyone could tell me what I have here. I was given this ammunition after I purchased my K98icon. It has been sitting on my shelf on display since, but I would like to know more information about the origins of it.

Thanks for any help before hand!

Might be a wee bit hard to get that ammo to work in a K98kicon...
Its for an Austrian straight pull rifle often called a Steyr '95. Most often seen in a carbine variant. That ammo was quite common for a while, but is beginning to get scarce. The metal clips are required to operate the rifle as a repeater, so don't lose them! New ammo (but not new clips) can be had w/ a bit of searching. The rifles and ammo were updated post WWI, hence the M30 (model of 1930) label on the box.

That ammo was made in 1938, boxed in 1939. Austriaicon had been annexed and was under full Nazi control by this point as evidenced by the inspection stamp on the box.

Not my speciality, but that ought to get you started...

Yes, wrong ammo for your rifle!
You need to find 7.92x57 or 8x57 Mauser ammo, slightly different designations for the same thing.

Thanks for the info...I knew they were not for my rifle, someone thought they were sent them my way, and when I looked at them I knew they were not intended for the Mauser. I was just wondering what rifle they were intended for.

Now you must buy a rifle (or the more common carbine version) to go w/ your ammo!
