To be really honest........... If I wanted a good reliable .303" semi auto rifle, I'd just opt for a Bren and keep the change lever set to 'R'. I'd lighten it up by taking the bipod off and there you have it, the best compromise

Aaah but I can't have one of those. I live in the Communist Republik of Kalifornia and we are limited to 10 round fixed magazines. Plus an SA Bren here costs alot . If I had $4k UI'd try to get an L96 instead of a neutered bren gun. They do look fab though.

    Hi guys,

First off, sorry to revive such an old thread, but I seen there were some reasonably recent reply's and some interested party's in a Globe Model 555 .303

I happened to acquire on recently, and it appears that it may have never been fired! It is in immaculate condition, barring some very minor scuff on the barrel, and the (chromed?) bolt/action. The bluing on it is mostly very rich/blue still, and the stock is the better one with rosewood accents. I took it out yesterday and fired 4 rounds through it, and it functioned perfectly! It also have very low recoil, for a .303!

If anyone here is interested in this rifle, LMK, as I may be convinced to part with it.... initially I was thinking of keeping it, as I have never seen a semi-automatic .303 british, and just purchased 60 rounds ammo, and dies to reload.

Like I said, the condition is awesome! Please reach me by email if you want pictures, and would like to discuss this rifle further!

That would be very cool, specially if it ran auto like the one Stevo spoke of...just for chuckles...

    How about posting some pictures.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?
