    M14 stock w/ M1 buttplate

I have what I think is a T44E4 stock. Looks like a standard M14icon stock except it looks to be made for the Garand buttplate AND it looks to never have been on a rifle as there is no metal with it. No shadows where they might have been taken off and no finish either. No cartouche, no proof P. It does have the selector cutout and is stamped with an H where the buttplate goes (H&R?)

    Is this a rare thing?

I must have picked it up at a gun show a few years ago because it was in such good shape and put it away. I just found it again and saw where it didn't have the cutout for the hinged buttplate.

It was both T44E4 and early M14icon.

Plenty scarce they are. I bought the entire rifle (a Fulton Arms or some such- sold the rifle , kept the wood) just for the woodwork.

It "feels" better handling to me than later versions, it's my favorite stock!

That's the way I like 'em Bob, no fancies. I never liked the hinged butt because I never liked the bipod. Just carry and shoot!

Bob's picture: What is not visible are the drooling marks all over the surface.
