Clip comes partially out with three to go?

Shooting the Springfield yesterday I had two episodes where a clip pops partially out and gets stuck holding the bolt open with three rounds left - I didn't have a camera so my lousy description will have to do. Now I think this is due to the clips - they are somehow faulty - because out of 10 clips only two did this but I thought that I should check with the forum to make sure there isn't something going on with the rifle. Anybody have this happen before? Thanks!

Check the clip latch for function and spring tension.

Yes, sounds like a weak "clip latch" spring.

    Premature clip ejection...

A weak spring might well be the cause; try 'stretching' the existing spring. If the problem goes away, replace the spring with a new one. (Fulton, at http://www.fulton-armory.com/ has a good one.)

You might want to check the notches on the clips that ejected with three aboard. Sometimes the clips get worn, and the latch doesn't properly match.
