I need a rifle to go with this bayonet

Picked up a bayonet this morning at a yard sale. It appears to be an 1893 Spanish bayonet made by Artilleria ca National Toledo. Blade is 15 5/8 inches long and it has a checkered wood grip and a leather scabbard.

I'm assuming it goes with a Spanish Mauser of some sort but would like to know the specifics and if anyone can guide me to some photos of the rifle so I know what to look for.

With a bit of further research I now believe this to be the model 1913 long bayonet which should go with the short Mauser.

So that would make it a Spanish Mauser Short Rifle (Mosqueton) Model 1916.

Or a Mexican or Portuguese Rifle. What rifles would they have used?

I haven't checked to see if it fits on the Chileanicon Mauser yet. It looks somewhat standard.

Checked on the Spanish Mauser. Saw one listed on an online site for $225 in 7.62 NATO. If I read correctly, this caliber were all conversions. Another consideration is that the 7.62 was designed with the weakest NATO members rifles in mind and these were Spain's.

So I'm thinking an original 7mm Mauser would be better, plus I already have one. How easy are these to come by?

Dont know where you are US or UKicon? If UK there is no problem to get them over here in Germanyicon. They changed the Gun laws and a lot of this rifles are on the market and the prices are low. A friend got one for 300 euros. The 7mm would always be the better choice.

I'm in the US. I don't think these rifles are all that common here but I don't think they are all that desirable either. I don't follow, or hadn't followed guns much before hanging out here but the Spanish Mausers always seem to be pretty low on the priority list.

The wife says I can't buy another rifle right now but this bayonet is just going to waste without one.
