    Czech Mauser

I know nothing about military mausers and have a chance to acquire one. It is marked SWP 45 on the receiver ring and appears pretty much mint, bore is excellent as well. I have learned that this is the code for 1945 Czechoslovakiaicon manufacture. I saw one on GB with an unusual rear sight that they wanted a ridiculous price for, this one doesn't look quite the same as that. Also the one I am looking at appears to have nearly all parts numbered with the same S/N. This one doesn't look like a last-ditch rifle at all and appears quite well finished for a late war gun. Hope to get pics of it soon. My question was could I go far wrong if I can get it for $300-$400?

$300 is not a bad price. 400 might be a little high. Regards, JOHN

assuming it's in good enough condition (and i'm also assuming it's a Russianicon capture) that is not a bad price

Thanks for the feedback and I'm quite sure it's not a RC. I plan on picking it up and will post pics.

1945 Germanicon Mausers are a distinct collector group. Price sound Ok to me. Very possible it is not a Russianicon capture gun. Pictures would help.

Probably a post war made rifle, but could be late war.
If it has a lion proof on the left side of the rec & bbl it is post war. An all matching post war is a $300+ rifle. IF it has war time proofs it is a $700+ rifle.

    Thanks,
I did some more digging and you are right about the Czechicon lion being post-war also the post war rifles had upper case letters on the S/N suffixes. Mine has neither, maybe I lucked out. Will post pics so the experts can look at it.

Got rifle, no lions or Brno markings. Wa63 on action ,barrel, bolt in several places. floorplate stamped, marked qnw, staked action screws. S/n 446xxa and stamped on action, barrel band, buttplate, bolt, floorplate and stock which is laminated with a rough surface as if semi-finished. No evidence of Russianicon capture(no X's or electro pencil). Rifle is excellent condition as if unissued. Has bayonet lug and cleaning rod also. Will take pics on Monday and can e-mail them to any experts who would mind having a look.
Never posted pics on forum before, technologically retarded.
