    NM 03 Springfield

I have come to the conclusion I can't leave anything alone, for long time now I have had the idea of building a NM O3 Service Rifle for accross the course shooting 200/300/600yds.

I have been bit by the retro bug, I think that the 03 can/could put down a great score today.

I have a few ideas dancing around in my brain, but how would you build this rifle? I'm not looking to clone a NM rifle I'm wanting too build my own NM rifle that will smoke the X-ring and look stylish and have that way cool retro/old school look at the same time.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Phil - I'd like to make my 3rd wife look like my 1st wife..might be possible.. but performance is not likely to be the same..nor mine.. I can't afford another attempt anyway..

Roland Beaver offered a "National Match" 03... one he built up, for sale. May still be on his website.... might give you some ideas.

I looked without any luck, I have been to National Match Armory and as nice as they look I feel the prices are WAY out of line.

Yes, their prices ARE out of line. Because... National Match Armory has elected to put itself in a unique position at the top of the market. I've talked with them; their position is that they are building the very best with the best components and they are charging accordingly. They used to do some minor service rifle gunsmith repair jobs, no more.

I had NMA build me one of their rifles back in 2003 around an '03 I already had. Cost was about $2000 excluding the original rifle. Sure does look pretty and shoot well! Is quite a bit of money, but after being into ARs the last couple of years, you can drop that much on an AR easily.
