Utica K-bar

Hey all,
I am new to military knives and just picked up my first one today. I have no idea what I have and was wondering if some of the knowledgeable folks on here could help me out. I have a K-bar marked "U.S." with UTICA CUT. CO" beneath it. I see no other visible markings on the knife or the sheath (which is leather). I have read that the markings are one of the WWII varieties and I have also read that this particular version is Korea or Vietnam era. Any info would be appreciated, thanks!

It is designated as a Mark 2 Knife.

K-Bar was actually just one of the makers. The others were Robeson, Pal, Camillus, later examples were made by Conetta, Utica, and again Camillus. Leather scabbards and later gray plastic scabbaeds. And you are correct about the later being post WW2 and used in Korea and Viet Nam. The easy way to know it is one of the post war is the stamping. It will be on the left side of the blade, U.S. over either Conetta, Camillus N.Y., or Utica Cut. Co.

I carried a Camillus in a plastic scabbard attached to my left shoulder my tours in Viet Nam. It was a handy utility knife.

I have seen mint examples in leather scabbards sell for $250 and up. Mint in plastic scabbards $150 and up.

Great looking knives you got there. Thanks for sharing. And thanks also for the information. Yours are in better shape than mine but the one with the leather scabbard is definitely the same animal I have. I picked it up for $60 so I'm not sure if I got taken on that or not. Condition wise, like I said not as nice as yours, but still ok. The handle is intact as well as the blade but the blade is silver in color, not that parkerized look. The sheath looks pretty good too. I'm more of a WWII collector but I do like this knife so it will find a home in my collection none the less and someday I will get myself one of the WWII variety when it comes along at the right price.
